SsangYong Berjaya Motor Philippines (SBMP), the exclusive distributor of SsangYong parts and vehicles, believes that banking on their best-sellers is the way to pump up their sales. That’s why this year, the company is bringing in a new top variant for the Tivoli and gives its bigger brother, Tivoli XLV, a tad touch of refresh.
The Tivoli gets a new variant called Premium Sport, which will be the new range-topper in the subcompact crossover’s lineup. Differentiating if from the Sport R that we reviewed before, the Premium Sport is more on the classy side, swapping the red leather interior trims with brown. The seats have been equipped with cooling system, too, which is something you’ll rarely find in this price point.
Outside, the Tivoli Premium Sport variant gets a bolder bumper design, which particularly highlights the fog lamps. Its 18-inch rims are also given a bright silver finish, complementing the already imposing two-tone exterior design of the current model. I have never seen a white top Tivoli but judging by the photos, I think I would adore its color combination in the metal.
Powering the Tivoli Premium Sport will still be the 1.6L e-Xgi160 gasoline engine, capable of producing 126 hp and 160 Nm of torque. This engine left great impressions on us during our review, and we’re expecting it to continue to do so for its future owners.
On the other hand, the diesel-powered Tivoli XLV also gets a bit of an update inside. It now has audio controls on the steering wheel for easier infotainment controls. That’s just about it for the Tivoli XLV, but that’s fine since this crossover is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in our reviews, clocking in 22.6 km/L during highway stints.
Another update for both Tivoli and Tivoli XLV are the addition of spare tires, which replaces the tire repair kit that the previous models had. That adds piece of mind for the driver, especially during long drives.
We are proud to announce the new for 2018 lineup of SsangYong vehicles. It makes us happy to be able to bring to the public such a range of stylish, yet practical, vehicles which complement not only their active lifestyles but also the reality of daily living. SsangYong vehicles represent the wise choice among the myriad of offerings from our competitors. Proudly made in South Korea, our lineup not only offers style but also substance with true usability and reliability minus the penalties of expensive maintenance.
The Tivoli Premium Sport sells for P1,160,000, while the refreshed Tivoli XLV starts at P1,180,000 for the 4x2 variant.
