Auto Industriya got an exclusive interview with Suzuki’s Assistant Manager, Kenny Adia, about the S-Presso, during its launch earlier this week. The humble small hatch had a few remarkable updates that were headlined by the inclusion of an automatic AGS transmission.
Part of the appeal of the S-Presso is its affordable price tag, a feat that only few cars and small hatchbacks manage to achieve without sacrificing some features. While AGS is nothing new to Suzuki cars, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay at the price of the S-Presso was a bit of a shocker for us. Now, Suzuki has set the bar in terms of affordable and relevant infotainment smartphone pairing functionality, and if you’re craving for a modern infotainment system right out of the dealership lot, then the S-Presso is the most affordable way to go about that.
However, what about the Celerio? The hatchback is available with the AGS transmission, but not with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, unlike the newly-updated S-Presso now. With that in mind, our friends over at Auto Industriya thought it would be a good idea to grab an interview at the launch.
“During the launch of the 2023 S-Presso, we managed to talk with Kennedy Adia, Assistant Manager at Suzuki Philippines. Aside from sharing with us that the 2023 S-Presso AGS will not affect sales of the Celerio, he also confirmed with us that the Celerio will be getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the future. There's no exact timeline as to when the hatchback will get the mobile apps. However, Adia did say that they will be coming soon,” wrote Marcus De Guzman of Auto Industriya Philippines.
With this bit of information, we can say that Suzuki Philippines will be launching a new version of the Celerio, or will be quietly updating the model to modernize its selection of features. The exact dates of this update have not yet been divulged, nor has Suzuki Philippines confirmed or announced any development for the Celerio nameplate. “As soon as possible,” or so they say, but Celerio buyers who are savvy to these smartphone pairing features might have to wait a little longer before pulling the trigger on a brand-new Celerio.
