Over in New Zealand, something has been brewing and it's a special variant of the Suzuki Jimny that we never knew we wanted. The popular small and boxy SUV has garnered a following through the years due to its underlying off-road prowess and through its extensive aftermarket support. There is certainly something charming about the vehicle that keeps people buying more and more of it.
While the Suzuki Jimny is a capable small off-roader it isn’t exactly what you would call a workhorse of a car. Space is limited due to its small form factor and there isn’t a 5-door version of the vehicle yet. Although Suzuki India has plans to make one this coming April 2020 as of now it's only rumored to happen.

In New Zealand, however, something unexpected has happened and they have done a pickup truck conversion to the Suzuki Jimny. The vehicle was spotted on sale at a local dealership with a complete warranty. The pickup truck conversion may not be able to directly stack up against its rivals in the single cab segment but at least it looks unique and retains a small form factor.

The rear half of the vehicle gets cut off, a new rear panel is put into place, and a new small truck bed gets placed at the rear. As far as conversions go it’s a clean one as the vehicle even gets a carpeted area behind the front seats. In order to fit its new pickup truck persona, the Jimny in New Zealand drops a few of the conventional SUV’s goodies. The pickup truck version loses on LED headlights and opts for a halogen approach, even the wheels have been replaced with black steelies instead. While the drive train essentially remains the same, the only transmission option available is a 5-speed manual. Sticking to its more utilitarian orientation the touchscreen infotainment is now gone along with the automatic climate controls, and the leather steering wheel.
