Suzuki Philippines (SPH) launches its newest small but sturdy workhorse, the all-new Suzuki Carry. Unlike its predecessor the Super Carry that came with an 800cc diesel engine, the all-new Suzuki Carry now comes with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The Carry was launched with four initial variants: a cargo truck, a van, a utility van, and a cab and chassis.
On the inside, the Carry comes with a 1DIN head unit with two speakers. It also now has manual air conditioning that wasn't standard in the older Super Carry. Further additions include a USB socket, as well as the odd addition of a heater. Cabin space has also improved by 89mm giving more shoulder room to the passengers compared to the older model. Head room has also been improved by 12mm from the previous model in order to accommodate larger and taller passengers.
For cargo capacity, the all-new Suzuki Carry gets an upgrade, as well. Compared to the Super Carry, it has a 365mm longer and 75mm wider bed. It also has a load capacity of 940 kg with better weight distribution when fully loaded. Dimensions are 2,565mm by 1,660 mm, with the bed sitting low at a height of 750mm. Thanks to its new design, the Carry now gains a wading depth of 30cm to help it maneuver through floods when needed. Making operation of the vehicle easier is the addition of electric power steering.
Pricing for the all-new Carry starts at P499,00 for the cab and chassis, P509,000 for the Truck variant, P576,000 for the Cargo van, and P614,000 for the utility van variant.
New Dzire GA variant
The surprises didn’t stop with just the launch of the Suzuki Carry. Suzuki at the same time launched a new variant of the Dzire. The new variant, the GA, now serves as the entry-level version of the Dzire bumping up the GL to the mid-range variant.
Being the new entry-level variant, the Dzire GA loses electric windows and central locking. Gone, also, are the electric-adjustable side view mirrors, and the alloy wheels. The wheels are replaced by 14-inch wheels and 165/80 series tires.
Replacing the 7-inch infotainment is a simple 1DIN head unit. Steering wheel controls are also absent in this variant, as well as the tachometer – a strange omission, especially for a manual variant. Having a tachometer helps manual users rev-match and downshift properly.
Powering the GA Dzire is the same familiar 1.2-liter found in the other variants. The only available transmission for the GA is a 5-speed manual transmission. Available colors for the GA Dzire are Pearl Arctic White and Silky Silver Metallic. The GA Dzire can be had for P549,900.
