Suzuki Philippines made an appearance at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) held at the World Trade Center Manila, revealing its electric eVX concept car and introducing the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions.
One of the main attractions at the show was the Suzuki eVX concept, a new electric SUV that shows where Suzuki is headed with electric vehicles. The eVX, which stands for "Emotional Versatile Cruiser," has a muscular SUV look with a high driving position, spacious cabin, big wheels, and high ground clearance. The car runs on a fully electric platform with a range of up to 550 kilometers on a single charge and is planned to launch by 2025.
The Jimny Rhino Editions, available in both 3-Door and 5-Door versions, were also on display during the event. These special editions come with added features like a new front grille, underbody protection, mud flaps, and a Rhino decal, giving the Jimny a tougher look. Both versions have a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that delivers 120 PS and 130 Nm of torque and are available with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
Suzuki also featured their hybrid models, the XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and the Ertiga Hybrid. The XL7 Hybrid gets a new black grille and alloy wheels, while the Ertiga Hybrid features updated designs and protective accessories. Both offer good fuel efficiency and performance, making them great eco-friendly options for everyday use.Rounding out Suzuki’s lineup was the S-Presso, a small hatchback with big personality. For this event, the S-Presso was equipped with an Expedition Kit, including cladding and grille upgrades.
During the event, Mr. Norihide Takei, Director and General Manager of Suzuki Philippines' Automobile Division, talked about Suzuki’s plans to make transportation more eco-friendly. He explained that Suzuki is working to replace gasoline-powered cars with electric ones and to find different ways to reduce pollution and improve the environment.
Suzuki is working with TIER IV, a company specializing in self-driving technology, to make driving safer and more efficient. Suzuki is also part of the HAKUTO-R lunar exploration project and is also involved in the SkyDrive flying car project, which is working on electric flying cars for city travel. In addition, they’ve teamed up with M2 Labo to create the Mobile Mover, a robot designed to help farmers.
Visitors at PIMS 2024 got a glimpse of Suzuki’s future plans, especially its upcoming cars. While the new models are on the way, you can explore Suzuki’s current offerings on AutoDeal and start your journey to owning a new car.
