With so many SUVs on the road, it’s not easy to create something different. Suzuki shared how they shaped the Fronx to be both strong and stylish while keeping it practical for daily use. Suzuki Philippines recently launched the Fronx at The Lakehall at Nena’s Sanctuary in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, on September 12, 2025.
During the event, media and bank partners got a closer look at how this new SUV was created. Takashi Yokoyama, Chief Engineer for the B & C Segment Division at Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan, shared that the Fronx was made to be an easy-to-drive SUV that families could enjoy while still looking strong and stylish on the road.
The idea started with a simple question: what do people think is beautiful? One customer answered, “Something that combines strength, power, and style,” and pointed to a photo of a thoroughbred horse running at full speed. That image, strong yet graceful, became the team’s inspiration and shaped the design direction for the Fronx.
Development took place in both India and Japan, with teams exploring three themes: Sports, Crossover, and Coupe. Suzuki decided to take a bolder approach by going with a coupe SUV shape that mixes agility and strength. The Fronx has sharp headlamps, sculpted fenders, and a sloping rear for a sporty but practical look. Inside, it offers roomy seating, a quiet cabin to make conversations easier, and materials made for everyday comfort.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission instead of a CVT for a more direct driving feel. A mild hybrid option is available to help save fuel. Safety features include Dual Sensor Brake Support II, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist to make driving safer in both city and highway conditions.
The name Fronx is a mix of Frontier, which represents new opportunities, and X for Crossover. Suzuki says the goal was to create a vehicle that is practical for families but also fresh and stylish in the competitive small SUV market.
Suzuki hopes the Fronx will connect with families who want an SUV that’s safe, practical, and stylish but not hard to drive. Taking cues from strength and motion, it enters the compact SUV class with a bold look. You can explore it and other Suzuki vehicles now at AutoDeal.com.ph from wherever you are.
