It’s the second week of the month of January and many automakers are starting to get the ball rolling with more and more launches, and among those automakers is Suzuki Philippines (SPH). Suzuki Philippines recently put out a teaser on their official Facebook page for a new model that is slated to be revealed on January 16, 2023. We have a pretty good idea on what this model is, in fact, we’ve seen it before in the flesh.
Back in September during the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), SPH provided the public with an early look the brand’s future direction when they unveiled a hybrid version of the Suzuki Ertiga.
During the PIMS, SPH did not actually specify when they planned on launching the Ertiga Hybrid in the country, as well as how much it will cost or the number of variants it would have. But soon, all these questions will be answered as SPH provided a teaser image that points to a launch date for the Ertiga Hybrid.
Their teaser image itself does not have much in the way of content, it'll certainly be easier to come to a conclusion when the details are put together. The image features a distinct silhouette of Suzuki’s MPV cut-out on an image of a green leaf, with the date January 16, 2023 pointing to its future launch.
Details are still scarce on the upcoming Ertiga Hybrid, But since the MPV is already available in Thailand and Indonesia, we can get a good picture of what’s to come.
The Ertiga Hybrid from Indonesia is equipped with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Technology. It has a mild-hybrid system composed of a 1.5 liter K15B four-cylinder engine paired with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery pack. The ISG acts as both a motor and generator to capture and store energy in the battery, which takes over when the start-stop system shuts the engine off at a full-stop.
As for exterior changes, we know from its reveal at PIMS 2022 that the Ertiga Hybrid will receive some new touches on its exterior styling. The new model will get a new front grille, new tailgate garnishes, dual-tone 15-inch alloys, and a “hybrid” badge on the tailgate.
For the rest of the details about the Ertiga Hybrid, don’t worry about missing any as there’s only a short while to go before January 16 comes.
