The Toyota GR Supra GT Cup Asia 2020 will soon be entering its regional round this coming weekend. The fate of Team Philippines rests in the hands of Jose Altoveros, Lance Padilla, and Terence Lallave as the chosen representatives. There they will have to drive the virtual Toyota GR Supra to its limits against other season drivers to bring home the win. If they make it through this round they will have to battle it out in the regional finals.
The Team Philippines representatives will be competing with 12 other GR Supra GT Cup Asia national winners that will be coming from India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The series e-Motorsport champion will be determined after three rounds of racings on the Fuji Speedway, Tokyo Expressway East Outer Loop, and on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
The regional round of the sim-racing series will be hosted by Toyota Motor Asia Pacific which is under the Toyota Gazoo racing motorsport activities. The event will be streamed live and can be watched by Filipinos for free on Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) social media channels. The event will happen on October 25, 2020, at 7:00 pm Philippine time.
In preparation for the event, TMP through its race management partner Tuason Racing has conducted training sessions with the representatives to help prepare them for the regional round. TMP has also sought the help of PLDT Enterprise to provide internet connectivity for all three players during the race with the other Asian countries.
The GR Supra GT Cup started off in the latter half of 2020 where multiple rounds of racing were held to see who would represent the nation at the regional level. Terrence Lallave and Lance Padilla battled their way against other racers in their respective classes to secure their spot. While Jose Altoveros raced his way into his slot by competing against other members of the media as well as the celebrity class. With only a few days to go before the regional round, our support goes out to Team Philippines as they represent the country on an international level.
