Ever wondered what it’s like to take on the great outdoors with a pickup truck? Now you can experience it yourself (sort of) with this virtual reality (VR) app launched by Toyota.
Dubbed as Toyota VR Experience App, it has an immersive 360-degree VR video that takes its audience on a breathtaking ride inside the Hilux TRD. To make it as real as possible, Toyota enlisted professional downhill bikers and brothers Wendell and Eleazer “JR” Barba to drive the Hilux TRD on Mt. Pinatubo’s lahar bed to showcase its capabilities.
The mobile app is now available on both iOS and Android for free and, as of this writing, only features the Hilux TRD. Hopefully, Toyota uploads more videos soon to give us awesome virtual rides on their vehicles...like a drifting 86 perhaps.
The top-of-the-line Hilux boasts a powerful 2.8L diesel engine, relatively high ground clearance, and spacious bed to take on the challenges of the great outdoors. Add on the TRD body kit and you have a tough yet sporty looking pickup truck that’s sure to turn heads.
Watch the Hilux TRD in action on the video below.
