Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has launched the highly anticipated All-New Toyota Wigo, generating excitement among customers who have eagerly awaited its release following its successful launch in other ASEAN countries. TMP, a company renowned for its commitment to fostering happiness and ensuring accessibility to mobility for all, aims to solidify its position with the introduction of this upgraded version of the popular entry-level hatchback. The All-New Wigo offers a bolder exterior design and a more spacious interior, promising a stylish and comfortable driving experience.
At first glance, the All-New Wigo captivates with its sleek and contemporary appearance. Toyota's designers have diligently worked to embody the brand's concept of an "Exciting City Car," resulting in a more streamlined and modern aesthetic. The sharper headlights, sculpted hood, and larger grille exude confidence and dynamism, while the overall design gains a touch of sophistication with its sleek silhouette. Undoubtedly, the All-New Wigo stands out as a head-turner in the crowd.
Built on the advanced Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, the All-New Wigo guarantees improved comfort, superior handling, and increased interior space. Toyota's engineers have fine-tuned the suspension system to absorb bumps and shocks more effectively, delivering a smoother and more enjoyable ride. Moreover, the enhanced rigidity of the platform reduces body roll, providing a stable and confident driving experience.
The Wigo retains its reliable powertrain, featuring a 1.0-liter 12-valve three-cylinder engine that generates 67 hp and 89 Nm of torque. While the base J variant offers a five-speed manual transmission, both the E and G variants come equipped with a new CVT gearbox. With a fuel tank capacity of 36 liters, the All-New Wigo embraces a significant upgrade, replacing the outdated four-speed automatic transmission with a new Dual-Mode Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). This change not only improves fuel economy but also enhances power delivery, resulting in a more responsive and engaging driving experience.
Stepping inside the All-New Wigo, drivers and passengers are greeted by a redesigned interior featuring a range of premium features. The steering wheel has been updated for a more ergonomic grip, while the dashboard exudes refinement with the use of superior materials, creating a more upscale ambiance within the cabin. The integration of an eight-inch infotainment screen offers improved connectivity options with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling drivers to stay connected and entertained while on the move (available for E and G variants). The J variant, on the other hand, is equipped with a 1-DIN head unit with Bluetooth functionality.
Standard safety features across all Wigo variants include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control, and Hill-start Assist Control. Upgrading to the E CVT grade adds keyless entry and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Furthermore, the G CVT grade includes an engine push-start button and a six-way manually adjustable driver's seat.
The All-New Wigo is available in several colors, including Red Mica Metallic 2, Silver Metallic 4, Yellow SE, Orange Metallic 3, Gray Metalic, and White 2 and is offered in three different variants, catering to various customer preferences and budgets. The top-of-the-line G CVT will be priced at P 729,000, the E CVT at P 684,000, and the J M/T at P 609,000.
With its upgraded features, stylish design, and improved driving dynamics, the All-New Toyota Wigo is set to significantly impact the entry-level hatchback segment, reinforcing Toyota's commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles that bring joy and convenience to drivers across the Philippines.
