Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) delighted attendees at the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup Leg 2 with an unexpected treat: a sneak peek at the revamped edition of the Hilux GR Sport (GR-S). This updated version boasts an array of enhancements in both performance and design, adding a fresh dimension to Toyota's lineup.
The 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S exhibits a more robust and rugged appearance compared to its pre-refresh counterpart. The changes are evident with a larger front grille featuring the classic and unmistakable "TOYOTA" lettering, more angular bumpers, expanded over-fenders, and a robust metal front skid plate. To enhance its off-road prowess, Toyota has equipped it with 17-inch Dakar-inspired alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. Yes, its design is similar to the actual Dakar Hilux used in the competition.
The suspension system has also received a beefy upgrade, incorporating KYB monotube shock absorbers. These shock absorbers bring stiffer coils, precise dampening, and efficient heat dissipation to the mix, ultimately contributing to improved handling and ride comfort.
Stepping inside the 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S, you'll find a cabin that maintains the hallmark Hilux's practicality and comfort. It features suede and leather-trimmed seats adorned with GR branding, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and convenient paddle shifters for those who crave a more engaging driving experience.
Beneath the hood, the 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S houses an enhanced iteration of the proven 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV Inline-four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. This powerplant now churns out an impressive 224 hp and 550 Nm of torque, paired with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission. This places it at the forefront as the most potent midsize pickup truck available in the Philippines.
Safety is paramount in this latest offering from Toyota. The 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S comes equipped with the comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite, featuring a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Additionally, it boasts a Panoramic View Monitor, enhancing visibility and awareness.
Starting at a competitive price point of Php 2,166,000, the 2024 Toyota Hilux GR Sport offers excellent value for the features and capabilities it brings to the table. For those seeking a touch of personalization, the Emotional Red and two-tone color options come at an additional P20,000.
Enthusiasts won't have to wait long, as retail sales are set to commence shortly. Toyota's commitment to innovation and performance shines through in this impressive update to the Hilux GR Sport, catering to both practical and adventurous drivers alike. All that being said, the specifications are not yet final, so we will definitely update all of you once the Hilux GR-S officially goes on sale.
