Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has launched the latest edition of the Prius C hybrid subcompact, further stamping their rep as the number one automotive company in the country.
The exterior styling of this updated model was ramped to a sportier level, taking bits of inspiration from the brand’s famed 86 sports car. This “Eco-Fun” design language flaunts with a re-sculpted front fascia, evoking a heightened sense of aggression without going overboard. Side-styling was just as refined as its predecessor, featuring a bottom section accent line, leading the beholder’s eyes up to the rear portion.
Cabin seating fits a small family of five, but is still roomy enough for a pleasantly comfy ride. The top-of-the-line variant of the new Prius C beckons occupants with a full-leather interior treatment.
For the tech-savvy, an array of gizmos like a 6.5 inch LCD smart-touch-screen monitor and a CD/DVD/MP3/USB/iPod compatible audio system are standard in all variants. In addition, the entire line of the new Prius C also comes with hands-free calling and audio streaming functions via Bluetooth connectivity.
The latest Prius C runs with Toyota’s innovative Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) power plant, featuring a 1.5L inline 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC VVT-i Atkinson cycle petrol engine, paired with a Permanent Synchronous Motor. This hybrid system of fuel power and electric motor ensures smooth and reactive driving characteristics, with the benefits of reduced fuel consumption and gas emission. Control comes from an electric-assisted power steering and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with ECO and EV Modes.
The “C” in Prius C stands for COMPACT, CLEAN, CLEVER, and CITY, thus targeting the young, the starting families, and the environment-conscious urban dweller among us car enthusiasts.
Prices starts at P1,537,000 for the Prius C Standard version, while the Prius C Full-Option is available at P1,587,000. Optional White Pearl color is a P15,000 extra. You can see more photos, complete specs, and book a test drive by hitting the link.
