After a whirlwind of launches which include the Toyota Raize and the all-new Toyota Avanza, it looks like Toyota Motor Philippines has one more surprise in store and right after Easter as well. The Japanese automaker has recently released a quick teaser video on its official Facebook Page for what appears to be the all-new Veloz. We can say this with confidence as the front of the vehicle looks similar to what is locally available on the Toyota Thailand website. However, aside from this quick teaser, Toyota Philippines has yet to release any other information.

The teaser release does raise a few questions, such as why Toyota decided to separate the Veloz name from its Avanza counterparts. While the Japanese automaker has yet to release any other information with regards to this, we assume that it was done for pricing purposes as the Velzo could come with more features such as Toyota Safety Sense, which could result in a much higher price tag. Its possible pricing could potentially put it way above Avanza’s current attainable price point which is at P1,039,000 at its most expensive. We predict that the Veloz could well reach into the P1,200,000 bracket or even be priced higher than that.
Another question that comes to mind from the teaser video is why Toyota decided to call the Veloz a “compact SUV.” This could mean that the new vehicle is set to replace the Toyota Rush as it is also positioned as a 7-seater SUV. However, we still think that the Rush will still retain its place in the local lineup for a little while longer.
Aside from this, it could mean that Toyota is gearing up for another fight in the 7-seater segment. It is important to remember that Mitsubishi is also launching the facelifted Xpander soon and that Honda Philippines could be launching the all-new BR-V soon as well. This means that Toyota might be trying to get an edge over its competitors by launching the new Veloz first.
This brings us to the possible launch date of the new Veloz. While this has not yet been officially confirmed, the new compact SUV might be launching on April 22, 2022. It will reportedly be available in two variants (G and V models). It will also be reportedly available in four colors: White Pearl (that may come with a slight price increase due to being a special color), Dark red, Black Mica, and Purplish Silver.
