The Toyota Raize is now being produced for left-hand drive markets in Cambodia. Back when it entered the ASEAN market earlier this year, the subcompact crossover was proudly built in Indonesia, though only right-hand drive units were produced back then. Now, the Japanese automaker has started building and exporting left-hand drive units of its subcompact crossover. One of the first markets to receive left-hand drive Raize is Cambodia. That said, could Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) soon extend its lineup with this new small wonder?
It made its first debut back in Japan last 2019, Toyota even claimed that the Raize should be “easy to use both for leisure on weekends and everyday use,” plus, it also “provides daily support for customers in a variety of active scenarios.” This subcompact crossover is a suitable addition to Toyota’s Philippine model lineup granted that some of the other present brands in the country already have entries in its segment. It shall compete with the likes of the Kia Stonic, Chery Tiggo 2, and Hyundai Venue.
Back then, the Toyota Raize was only built with a right-hand drive configuration, therefore, leaving the rest of the South East Asian market longing for a right-hand drive unit. Thankfully, Toyota has found a way to build and export its small crossover to other left-hand drive regions.
What you see is the Cambodian-spec Toyota Raize, and they are the first country to get the left-hand drive units. Given that the Philippines is still the largest left-hand drive market in ASEAN, the newly-launched Cambodian spec Raize could presumably mirror the one that we’ll get in the future, that is if TMP decides to launch it.
In terms of engine options, the Cambodian-spec Raize can only be had with either the 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder motor that’s solely paired with a 7-speed CVT. Notable features include 7-inch TFT digital gauges and an 8-inch infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Lastly, safety is then complemented with 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and vehicle stability control.
