Toyota Thailand has just released an update for the Yaris Ativ giving it a revised new look along with a new Urban Addict model. While the Yaris Ativ is similar to the locally available Toyota Vios, the Thai spec car comes with a few more features as well as a market-specific 1.2-liter engine. With that said, here is what the Japanese automaker has done to update its popular sedan.
Exterior
Compared to the local version of the Vios, the Yaris Ativ comes with a sportier bumper with wider corner inserts. The sedan also now comes with new L-shaped foglight bezels, that help add to the new sportier theme. With the new Urban Addict model, the sedan now comes with a black roof, black side mirror caps, new side skirts, and a revised rear bumper. It also gets a new set of 15-inch alloy wheels that are black with silver accents.
Interior
On the inside, the Yaris Ativ looks the same as before. It still carries over the digital climate controls, its 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system, its 3-pod gauge cluster, and its piano black accents found on key parts of the cabin. It is important to note that the new Urban Addict model comes with a 6-speaker sound system along with USB charging points for the rear passengers.
Features
In terms of safety, the refreshed Yaris Ativ comes with much of the same features available in its predecessor. It still carries over its 7-airbags, hill-start assist, traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution, and brake assist. Other features for the refresh also include automatic headlights, smart keyless entry, a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors. The sedan also comes with intelligent driving aids to further increase its safety factor that comes in the form of a pre-collision system and a lane-departure alter system.
With the refreshed Yaris Ativ/Vios making its debut in the ASEAN market in Thailand, it is only a matter of time before Toyota Philippines picks up on this and subsequently gives the local version an update as well. As to when this could happen is still a mystery but our best guess is either towards the end of 2022 or in early 2023 as Vios has only recently gotten a facelift in the local automotive market.
