Phoenix Pulse Formula V1 Virtual Cup race 1

Andre Varquez and Luis Moreno finished strong at the Race 1 of the Phoenix Pulse Formula V1 Virtual Cup. Both were hailed as the champions of the event as both clinched the fastest times of the race. Their online racing feats were broadcasted on the Tuason Racing Facebook Page last October 10, 2020.

The race itself had participants competing under dry conditions in the PC racing game Asetto Corsa. With a 55-car field in play, getting to the top spot was no easy task as both racers had to battle it out with the rest of the competition.

Varquez set the fastest time in the AM Class, lapping the Monza racetrack in 02:01.79 while Moren set a record of 02:01:78 in the Pro class. With only milliseconds separating their lap times it is not hard to see that these racers are definitely the top contenders for the online racing series.

In the AM class, coming in second place was Francis Mertillo who was able to hold his position from the start of the race all the way to the very end. Meanwhile in the battle for 3rd place in this racing class wasn’t as clear cut. Jether Miole and Real Lerpido had to battle it out and were nose to tail towards the 10th lap of the race. Lerpido appeared to be in control and nearly cemented his podium finish, however, Miole was able to manage a sneak attack on the last corner of the track bagging himself the 3rd place finish.

Luis Moreno and Andre Varquez

In Pro class, Moreno started the race in second place, however, he lost control in the race resulting in his car spinning out. Determined to regain lost ground, pushed hard to get back into the top spot duking it out with Iñigo Anton who inherited his spot during his spin out. Moreno fought hard and eventually regained his 2nd place position.

Towards the end of the race, it was a 3-driver battle to see who could get the 1st place position with Russel Reyes, Moreno, and Anton battling it out. Anton’s aggressive driving style had him nipping at the heels of Moreno all the way to the finish but the latter kept his cool and held on to his position resulting in a 1st place finish.

Race 2 of the Phoenix Pulse Formula V1 Virtual Cup will be held on October 17, 2020, and will be broadcasted on the Tuason Racing’s Facebook fan page and TuasonRacingTV YouTube Channel.
