Since the launching of their first Child Safety Initiative (CSI) program during the 11th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Volkswagen Philippines went hands-on in educating children and their parents/guardians the values of child safety and responsible motoring. To reach out even further, they recently partnered with Robinsons Malls to spread the good deed.
“We are pleased to partner with Robinsons Malls in our campaign towards child road safety. They have provided ample space in their malls to allow us to lay out our road tracks and let families to have their kids go through this extremely important educational opportunity in a fun learning environment,” said VW Philippines President and CEO John Philip Orbeta.
This partnership was formally declared last May at Robinsons Magnolia and was witnessed by the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Assistant Secretary Dante Lantin. The same event also saw a total of 200 kids who went under the guidance of the Philippine Global Road Safety Partnership’s professional driving instructors.
This program aims to teach the children the importance of road safety, correct passenger behavior and pedestrian behavior through fun-filled practice runs and driving tasks. With the help of professional driving instructors and 5 Volkswagen Push Cars, children will be able to experience real life road simulations in a specially designed 50 meter Junior Driving Course.
All the kids went on to complete these tasks to receive their Junior Driver’s Licenses. The same positive response was seen in Robinsons Las Piňas were 175 children successfully earned their licenses.
To date, a total of 624 kids have already earned their junior driver’s licenses and as the year approaches midway, more kids and adults alike will have the opportunity to learn.
Be sure to bring your kids to Robinsons Galleria for the 2nd leg of CSI on July 18-19. And If you live in or near Bulacan, you will be glad to know that the 3rd leg will be held at Robinsons Place Malolos on August 8-9.
The 4th leg goes to Robinsons Place Manila on August 15-16 while on September 5-6, you can catch CSI at Robinsons Forum Mandaluyong. Lastly, people from the south can experience CSI at Robinsons Lipa on September 19-20.
Robinsons Land Corporation Operations Director for Luzon Malls Irving Wu stated that they are “very happy to a mall partner of Volkswagen Philippines on this worthy project.” They also believe that “it is better to inculcate the importance of road safety while our children are young."
The Volkswagen Child Safety Initiative campaign has three institutional partners, namely Safe Kids World Wide Philippines, Department of Transportation and Communications, and Philippine Global Road Safety Partnership. Media partners are Top Gear Philippines, The Philippine Star, Speed Magazine, Motoring Today, Manila Times, Auto Review, and AutoIndustriya.com.
