Volkswagen Philippines has successfully turned over 2018 Santana units to the company’s third client in the Philippines. The Man Automotive Concessionaires Corporation (MACC), along with CW Home Depot and Diamond Rent-A-Car, are the first three companies to have chosen the Santana subcompact sedan as their corporate fleet.
MACC is the exclusive importer, distributor, and aftersales provider of MAN trucks and buses in the Philippines since 1989. The company initially concentrated on providing buses for the local public transport, which is then followed by heavy-duty trucks in the recent years. MACC is considered to be the MAN dealer in Asia with the largest facilities, as it has two MAN Truck and Bus Service Centers.
The turnover of Santana units to MACC was done in October, the same month when Diamond Rent-A-Car received its own corporate fleet from the German brand. Volkswagen first delivered Santana corporate fleet units to CW Home Depot in July.
Locally, the Santana is considered as the most affordable European car brand in the market. The German subcompact sedan is assembled and exported from China, it’s also part of the five car models that Volkswagen brought to rebrand its image in the local market. The fleet composes the manual Santana variant, which is powered by a 1.4-liter Multi-Point Injection (MPI) 4-cylinder gasoline engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The mill can produce 89 hp and 132 Nm of torque.
As part of the deal, Volkswagen PH included a worry-free maintenance experience, apart from the comprehensive warranty coverage. In addition to the 3-year or 100,000-km (whichever comes first) general warranty, the three firms will also receive a 3-year warranty for paint and another 3-year warranty for through-corrosion of the body’s main steel frame. Periodic maintenance services (PMS) interval schedule is also structured to match owners’ convenience, which is once a year or every 10,000 km, whichever comes first.
If you missed the past 2018 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Volkswagen expanded the Santana’s range with the introduction of an automatic and a wagon variant. The automatic variant and the GTS wagon variants share a 1.5-liter MPI gasoline engine.
