The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the automotive industry to an abrupt stop with the implementation of restrictions to the motoring public’s movement. It has also caused many car dealerships to temporarily close down until the quarantine period has been officially lifted. Volkswagen Philippines recognizes these limitations and has decided to further extend the warranty coverage of its vehicles that are set to expire within the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period. The German brand is giving its customers another 3-months worth of coverage in line with some of its dealerships still being closed in certain areas.
The extension of the warranty provides Volkswagen vehicle owners with the opportunity to avail of aftersales privileges covered by their vehicles. Once dealerships are allowed to reopen they will be accepting customers under the Philippine government issued General Community Quarantine (GCQ) guidelines. This means that regular disinfection will be put into place and that all showroom visitors will be required to wear a mask. Social distancing will also be put into place in showrooms and other dealership related facilities. However, In areas that are still in ECQ, non-essential establishments such as automobile dealerships shall remain closed. This means that in these areas customers cannot get their vehicles serviced or have parts replaced.
The warranty extension covers all Volkswagen Passenger as well as commercial vehicles that have been sold by the German brand’s authorized dealers. Vehicles covered are those which have warranties expiring between March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020. Thus, the warranty extension for these vehicles runs from June 1, 2020, all the way to August 31, 2020, only.
On top of the warranty extension, Volkswagen Philippines also provides a 247/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA) service that gives owners and drivers an extra layer of security, safety, and peace of mind. The German brand states that with the extension of the warranty even after the lifting of the quarantine period its customers can move into the “new normal” in the safety and most convenient and most worry-free way.
