Volkswagen Philippines took center stage yet again with the launch of their much-awaited performance hatchback, the 7th generation Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The latest Golf GTI radiates pure energy right off the bat and it all starts with that signature red stripe on the grille. Being a GTI, it comes standard with 18-inch Austin alloy wheels, sport-oriented bumpers, spoiler, and dual exhausts. Inside, GTI premium “Clark” material sport seats beckon, as well as those GTI exclusive touches like the steering wheel and shift knob, all fashioned together with that familiar red stitching.
According to Volkswagen Philippines President and CEO John Philip Orbeta, the 7th gen VW Golf GTI is “the perfect car for performance seekers, looking for fun and excitement.”
That statement holds true with what this performance hatchback has in store. Its turbocharged 2.0L inline 4-cylinder 16-valve stratified TSI petrol engine powers up to 220 hp at 4,500 - 6,200 rpm with a maximum torque of 350 Nm at 1,500-4,400 rpm.
A 6-speed DSG automatic transmission gives additional responsiveness to the new GTI. It also comes equipped with an updated sport suspension, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), and a torque vectoring Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) with XDS Plus technology.
The 7th generation Volkswagen Golf GTI is priced at P2,290,000 and is available in five colors; Oryx White Pearl, Tornado Red, Night Blue, Limestone Grey, and Deep Black Pearl.
