
Volkswagen Philippines is gearing up to release an all-new nameplate in the market very soon. The Volkswagen T-Cross is a subcompact crossover that is manufactured in Brazil, China, and Germany. VW touts that it is filled with engineering and design details that consumers will come to appreciate. Replacing the Volkswagen Tiguan, by the looks of it, the new 5-seater crossover will make its way to the country in the second quarter of 2021. No official release date yet, but VW PH assures that it is coming very soon.
The T-Cross is a multi-awarded model, lauded for its safety, design, and engineering across the globe by many organizations, media outlets, and reviewers. From Europe to Africa, the T-Cross has been recognized by many automotive award-giving bodies and auto shows. The crossover also achieved a 5-star European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), Latin NCAP, and Australian NCAP safety rating. The model won Best Compact SUV at BusinessCar Awards 2019 in the UK, Compact SUV of the Year at the 2020 Continental Tyres Irish Car of the Year in Ireland, the Best “Exterior Volume Brand” at Frankfurt Motor Show 2019 in Germany, the Compact SUV of the Year by UOL Carros 2019, and L’Auto Preferita in Brazil, as well as the Compact Family Car category win in the 5th annual Cars.co.za Consumer Awards in South Africa.
With all these accolades, it is no doubt that the T-Cross appears to be a car worthy of attention. Its exterior design and its many other features make it an enticing deal for those looking for a proper subcompact crossover. The global production of the T-Cross is still in full swing, and Volkswagen has three manufacturing hubs. The model is available in 55 countries as of March 2021, while global sales have shown a remarkable increase.
In 2019, the T-Cross sold about 202,000 units, and in 2020, the model sold about 296,000 units. Percentage-wise, this is a 46% growth in sales despite the pandemic last year with economic activity restrictions.
