Scandinavian Motors Corporation (SMC), the official local distributor of Volvo vehicles has announced the availability of the R-Design variant on some of their models. The nameplates that have been endowed with this sportier package are the V40, S60, and XC60.
In a nutshell, the R-Design is Volvo’s way of spicing up its models in terms of form and function. There are more stunning visual cues besides the chromed tailpipes, blue lit instrument clusters, and R-Design seats that distinguish these from the regular versions.
According to SMC, the V40 R-Design appeals especially to those who love active driving. This holds true especially when seeing its side profile (just look at that hunkered down stance). The car also flaunts a 5-spoke diamond cut wheels and silk-metal finished components, most prominently on the grille. Found at the back is an ironstone diffuser which umbrellas a couple of exhaust mufflers.
On the other hand, the S60 R-Design shines bright as it approaches from the horizon thanks to a new set of daytime running lights (DRL). At its rear, one can notice its unique rear bumper diffuser with aero fins. This also gets accented with twin tail pipes.
Finally, there’s the Volvo XC60 R-Design. For this variant, Volvo has upped the performance aspect with better cornering characteristics and increased torque and power.
To complement these, they’ve given it a fresh new face complete with DRLs on the outer corners. And just like in the S60 R-Design, the rear part also gets the aerodynamic diffuser with twin tail pipes. This beast will also roll out of the dealership with new 20-inch wheels for added style points.
Inside, the seat material was made by blending Nubuck textile with perforated leather. This goes well with the vehicle’s black headliner and an assortment of other R-Design touches.
