Ford Philippines will be launching a new Ranger this February 16, with the Blue Oval sending an invite dubbed ‘Live the Ranger Life’. The local market could get the refreshed model which was released in Thailand last year that included a few minor updates.
Now, only minimal changes were applied to the midsize pickup. While almost every exterior angle retains its familiarity, all Thai-spec variants of the Ranger get a new grille that resembles the one on the FX4 trim, and a range of blacked-out rims, which may vary in design depending on its trim-level.
As for the accessories and the other additions, the Thai-spec model comes with these additions, and it is also safe to expect these additions on the 2021 model year for Ford’s best-seller. The Wildtrak’s roll bars, on the other hand, now come with special orange details for a more visually-interesting look, plus, it also gets a revised bumper with additional black details. The Ranger Wildtrak also gets a power-roller shutter for the bed which is quite a rare feature in its segment.
Inside, Ford retained the familiar cabin layout. Although, it is worth noting that the refreshed Ranger Wildtrak gets more Orange details than before. On top of these updates, the brand’s renowned pickup remains as good as it currently is.
Likewise, engine options still include the 2.2-liter turbo diesel that still produces 157 hp and 385 Nm of torque. The base engine could either be paired with a still that produces 157 hp and 385 Nm of torque. While higher trims can opt for either a 2.0-liter single turbo engine that produces 178 hp and 420 Nm of torque, or a 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo diesel motor that churns out a healthier 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Both can be paired with a 10-speed automatic, while the 6-speed manual only comes with a single-turbo engine.
While we’re still quite unsure if this really is a refreshed Ranger, Ford’s first virtual launch for 2021 is slated this February 16. Therefore, stay tuned for more info and updates.
