Chevrolet Philippines once introduced the Traverse in the Philippines, though its venture into the mid-sized crossover market was relatively brief. Nevertheless, it paved the way for subsequent releases like the body-on-frame Trailblazer a few years later. Currently, the Philippine distributor of Chevrolet, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), is looking to North America as a source for their products, raising the question of whether they might consider reintroducing the all-new 2024 Traverse to the market.
Powering the latest midsized crossover from Chevrolet is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which replaces the long-standing V6 powertrain. With approximately 315 hp and 430 Nm of torque, this engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers the option of front or all-wheel drive.
The Traverse's design strikes a balance between crossover and truck-inspired elements. Noteworthy features include standard LED lighting with a compound design, true dual exhausts, a panoramic sunroof, and L-shaped taillights reminiscent of the recently launched Trax, though it strikes us more as a compact Tahoe and Suburban. For the first time, there's also a more adventure-ready Z71 trim, positioned about an inch higher than the standard Traverse, and equipped with a front aluminum skid plate. Its special dampers with hydraulic rebound control, all-terrain tires, and twin-clutch all-wheel drive system enhance both its appearance and performance.
Inside, the 2024 Traverse boasts a technology-forward experience, featuring an 11-inch driver's information cluster and a 17.7-inch colored touchscreen. The shifter is conveniently column-mounted to create more storage space, while a pass-through console design further adds to its practicality. The standard seating configuration accommodates eight passengers, but a seven-seater option is also available thanks to second-row captains' seats. Additionally, customers can choose to add heated front and second-row seats as well as a power-folding third row for added convenience.
Safety is a top priority for the 2024 Traverse, which comes equipped with a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). These include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, and more, ensuring a secure driving experience for all occupants
For those in the United States, the all-new Traverse will become available starting in early 2024, promising an impressive lineup of features and improvements over its predecessors. As The Covenant Car Company, Inc. expands its focus on North American sourcing, potential customers in the Philippines can eagerly anticipate the possibility of the 2024 Traverse making a return to their shores with its impressive performance, design, technology, and safety features. Only time will tell as of now.
