With the facelifted Wildtrak, the FX4, and the Raptor, the Philippine lineup of the Ford Ranger stands as one of the most well-endowed in the market. There are many renditions of the Ranger that you can get your hands on in the country, but for aficionados looking for something more limited something is brewing that could make its way to the Philippine market.
There are two limited-edition variants that Ford is cooking up and winding up to launch in October 2021. These are two variants that we would like to see from the Blue Oval in the Philippines, the Stormtrak and the Wolftrak. Both models feature 2.0-liter diesel engines, but with varying configurations. The Stormtrak gets the same engine as the Wildtrak, FX4 MAX, and the Ranger Raptor that produces 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the Wolftrak will get the single-turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine that will likely produce 178 hp and 420 Nm of torque.
As for the differentiating factors, the Stormtrak will be the more equipped edition and will feature the same grille as the current generation Wildtraks. The main difference will be the red accents on the grille. It will also get LED headlights like on the Wildtrak. However, it does get additional underbody protection along with a black rear bumper and a sports bar at the back, similar to the Ford Ranger Wildtrak line of variants. It will also get a new color, Rapid Red, which is a deeper, yet still vibrant hue of the intense color. However, if the customer still prefers a different color, they can opt for Frozen White, or Blue Lightning.
Another factor that makes the Stormtrak more appealing is the same leather seats as found in the Ranger Raptor. To tie in with the exterior, red stitching is applied instead of the orange that we’ve grown accustomed to in the Wildtrak.
Meanwhile, the Wolftrak will be available with a four-wheel-drive system along with a low-range setting and will be finished in two colors that are reminiscent of its variant name. Conquer Grey is a hue that we’ve come to love with the Raptor, which is a gorgeous paint job in its own right, but Ford will offer a new color for the Wolftrak called Sea Grey. It will have a bluish hue compared to the Conquer Grey. The wheels on the Wolftrak will be finished in black and come at 17-inches in size.
Also, Ford is offering its new power shutter with these models as options in other countries. We’re expecting that the Blue Oval will come with this feature as well if it comes to the Philippines. While there are confirmations for the UK market, with an allocation of more than 5000 units, we can only hope that either Ford brings in the new color options, or the limited models as part of the Philippine lineup. Ford Motor Philippines, just updated the current lineup with a facelift, but we could possibly see these models come into the market after a bit of time.
