VinFast VF6 2026 Review

The last two VinFast models we reviewed on AutoDeal were built for the mass market, trading features and amenities for a more accessible price. This time, we're stepping up to the VF6, a compact crossover EV that sits in the brand's mid-level lineup. It costs more than the VF3 and VF5 we've tested before, and with that higher price comes a higher bar. Can the VF6 clear it and convince you to choose it over more established names? Here's our take.

How We Do Our Reviews

We start with the VF6's pricing: P1,499,000 for the Eco variant and P1,699,000 for the Plus trim we're testing. At that price, the VF6 Plus enters waters occupied by the MG4 EV Lux at P1,738,888, the BYD Atto 3 Premium at P1,798,000, and the GWM Ora 3 at P1,778,000. With the VF6 Plus undercutting its rivals on price, the question is: is there a catch?

VinFast VF6 Engine Bay

The VinFast VF6 Plus is powered by a front-mounted 150 kW electric motor delivering 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. That motor is driven by a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can provide up to 460 km on a single charge.

Once the batteries run dry, the VF6 can be recharged via a Type 2 or CCS2 charger. Using a fast charger, the VF6 can charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in just 25 minutes.

Like all other VinFast vehicles, the sharp and unique styling of their vehicles make them hard to ignore on the road. VinFast tapped Italian design studio Torino Design to help shape the VF6's design, and it shows. The front end is clean and modern, featuring a closed-off fascia typical of EVs, flanked by slim LED headlights that give it a sharp, focused expression. There's a light bar that runs across the front, tying the headlights together and adding a bit of visual drama.

Moving to the side, the VF6 has a fairly athletic profile for a compact crossover. The roofline slopes gently toward the rear, giving it a hint of a coupe-like silhouette without going overboard. The wheel arches are well-defined, and the 18-inch alloy wheels on the Plus trim fill them out nicely. Around back, the taillights stretch across the width of the car and connect via a light bar, mirroring the front. It's a look that feels cohesive and deliberate rather than just for pure shock and awe.

VinFast VF6 Plus Cargo Bay

The cargo space of the VF6 is admittedly, quite tight for its size, especially with the second row in use. There’s enough space in the trunk for luggage and bags but not a full balikbayan box. If you want to maximize the VF6’s space, folding the rear seats will provide 1,576 liters of space.

VinFast VF6 Plus Second Row

Starting at the back row, the VinFast VF6 presents a mixed bag of strengths and weaknesses. On the positive side, passenger space is generous, with ample headroom and legroom, a flat floor with no center tunnel, decent leather upholstery, a center armrest with two cupholders, an air vent, and two Type-A USB charging ports. On the downside, the seats themselves offer little thigh support — a problem compounded by their relatively short seat bases. The rear air vents are also limited to vertical adjustment only, with no sideways range. Additionally, the door handles are positioned uncomfortably close to the door hinges, requiring passengers to exert extra effort when opening and closing the doors. It's also worth noting that the side sills extend further outward than expected, which can make ingress and egress somewhat awkward.

VinFast VF6 Plus Front

Up front, the driver's end of the VF6 is where most of the amenities are concentrated. Tech highlights include a heads-up display and a large 12.9-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, backed by a six-speaker audio system. On the comfort side, the Plus variant adds ventilated front seats, a welcome feature given the Philippine climate. The VF6 Plus also punches well above its weight in terms of safety and driver assistance, offering over 20 ADAS features. These include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic lane-changing assist, blind spot detection, front and rear automatic emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, and a driver drowsiness warning system. Rounding out the package are a 360-degree surround-view camera, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beam control, and an eight-airbag setup covering the front, side, curtain, knee, and center positions.

VinFast VF6 Plus Front Seats

The steering wheel is unusually small, which makes for an awkward driving position. All vehicle controls — including the lights — are buried inside the infotainment system rather than being accessible via dedicated physical controls. The driver's seat also has a limited range of adjustment, particularly in terms of seat height. Finally, at this price point, we'd expect the VF6 to at least offer a sunroof and a power tailgate — neither of which is available. On the upside, the VF6 remembers your previous settings and restores them the next time you start the car, sparing you the hassle of reconfiguring everything each time you drive.

VinFast VF6 Plus Rolling Shot

The 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque on offer in the VF6 might seem enticing at first, but in practice, that amount of power can sometimes be more than the car can cleanly deliver. Pushing it into Sport mode for more aggressive driving will inevitably result in wheelspin and torque steer. Keep your right foot composed, however, and the VF6 drives like a typical EV — brisk, smooth, and silent.

On the comfort front, the VF6's ride quality is impressive. Whether on EDSA or the smoother expressways, it absorbed road imperfections well. That said, our assessment was with only two occupants; carrying four or more passengers may cause the VF6 to bottom out over severe potholes, owing to its relatively soft suspension tuning.

VinFast VF6 Plus Infotainment

The ADAS features are equally commendable — they work reliably and can be trusted for everyday driving. As mentioned in the previous section, the VF6's ability to retain your settings between drives is also a thoughtful touch.

Overall, the VF6 is a prime example of how well an EV can drive, made all the more impressive by its capable ADAS suite.

VinFast VF6 Plus Exterior

In a segment teeming with options, the VinFast VF6 is not far behind the competition — and that's an impressive feat for a brand as young as VinFast. Yes, there are rivals out there with more power or longer range, but the VF6 more than holds its own. It brings a genuinely well-rounded package to the table: a spacious cabin, a strong suite of ADAS features, commendable ride quality, and brisk performance when you need it. At its price point, the omission of a sunroof and a power tailgate is a notable miss, and a few interior ergonomic quirks do take the shine off an otherwise solid effort. But if you're in the market for an electric crossover that delivers on the fundamentals without asking you to spend big, the VF6 deserves a serious look.
