A premium price always comes with high expectations, and bigger isn’t always better, except when it’s the CX-90. Instead of just asking you to think "big" with the CX-90, Mazda is showing you how. With a 3.3L inline-six turbo engine and rear-wheel bias all-wheel drive, it combines power, efficiency, and driving refinement.
Inside, it boasts a modern cabin with features like a driver personalization system and a premium Bose sound system. Does the CX-90 justify its price tag? Let’s take a closer look and see if it’s as good as it seems.

Powerful inline-six engine and performance
First of all, isn’t it great to have a car that’s both powerful and fuel-conscious? The CX-90 comes with a 3.3-liter inline-six Skyactiv Turbo engine that delivers 280 hp and 450 Nm of torque. This engine, along with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, provides smooth acceleration and better efficiency. Even though it’s made for performance, the hybrid system helps save fuel during low-speed driving, giving you a well-rounded experience.
Aside from this, Mazda equipped the CX-90 with an 8-speed automatic transmission that doesn’t use a torque converter, which guarantees quicker shifts and a more direct connection between the engine and wheels. It’s a feature that improves responsiveness and gives drivers better control over the car’s performance.
Designed for everyday use and style
Sedans may always get the hype when it comes to "looking good," but the CX-90 makes it case. The CX-90 features a bold design with a large grille, sleek LED headlights, and a proportional hood that emphasizes its wide stance. Its 3,120 mm wheelbase enhances both interior space and road presence, making it suitable for family use and executive appeal.
Riding on 21-inch diamond-cut wheels with 275/45 tires, the CX-90 has a ground clearance of 203 mm, allowing it to manage roads and light off-road trails. The Artisan Red exterior paint adds a special touch, while chrome accents highlight key areas like the grille and rear.
Spacious and comfortable interior
If you need space for both passengers and cargo while being comfortable, the CX-90 offers just that. The Turbo Exclusive trim features six seats with tan leather and suede upholstery. The second-row seats are separated by a fixed center console that includes cup holders, a storage compartment, and a drawer.
Behind the third row, there is ample cargo space for hand-carry luggage. Folding the third row increases capacity to 1,163 liters, accommodating larger items. The wide rear doors and nearly 90-degree opening angles make it easy for passengers to enter and exit, including older adults or those with mobility concerns.
Advanced technology for convenience
The CX-90 comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure seamless smartphone integration, while the driver personalization system uses facial recognition to adjust the seat, mirrors, and other settings automatically.
Since safety always comes first, safety features in the CX-90 include radar cruise control, driver attention alert, and kinematic posture control. The latter reduces body roll during cornering by applying slight braking to the inner rear wheel.
Is it worth it?
Obviously, it all comes down to a verdict on whether the 2024 Mazda CX-90 is worth the price. The seven-seater starts at ₱3,680,000, while the six-seater Turbo Exclusive costs ₱3,780,000. This pushes the price past Mazda’s usual range, making it a daring act. However, it’s backed up by features like the 3.3L inline-six engine with a mild hybrid system, premium materials, and cutting-edge technology.
Is it a good choice? If you’re after a powerful SUV with an upscale interior and advanced features, the CX-90 delivers well for the price. However, for those prioritizing a smoother ride or top-notch fuel efficiency, it might leave some room for consideration. It’s a good option overall if you’re ready to pay for what it offers.
