The torch has been passed, and the games have ended, but the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is not slowing down. With its big 2.4L turbo diesel engine and a range of updates both inside and out, this truck could very well earn the title of the medal-worthy Olympian in the truck world. So, is it worth the hype, and more importantly, the money?

Design and look
On the outside, the Triton Athlete has gotten a huge revamp, now showing off a tougher and more muscular look that fits right in with today’s pickup truck styles. It features a big grille, clear DRLs (daytime running lights) right above the main headlights, and extra fog lamps that make it stand out on the road. The truck uses piano black trims around parts like the fenders and side mirrors, giving it a modern vibe that really stands out against the older, chrome-heavy designs. The revamped look makes the truck more aerodynamic, cutting down on wind resistance and helping it save on fuel.
Comfortable interior
Inside, the Triton Athlete provides a cabin made for comfort and convenience. The inside of the truck feels upscale with better materials and seats that make sure everyone is comfy, regardless of whether you're the driver or just along for the ride. It's filled with features like a 10-speaker B&O sound system and matrix LED headlights in the Stormtrak model, making your drive feel a bit luxurious yet totally functional.
Advanced technology
In terms of technology, the Triton Athlete did not refrain from adding really impressive features that increase its usefulness for work. It features a 360-degree camera system and an infotainment system that works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making sure you’re always connected and can find your way easily. The standout technological feature, however, definitely goes to the Pro Power Onboard system, which lets you power tools right from the truck—super handy for work sites where plugging in isn’t an option.
Safety Features
Mitsubishi has provided the Triton Athlete with top-notch safety tools that help keep you safe no matter where you’re driving. The Triton Athlete is equipped with safety systems, including the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which not only makes towing more manageable but also safer, reducing the risk of accidents and just making the overall vehicle handling a lot better. People also really like how it drives—steady and precise, thanks to its well-designed suspension system.
Boosted engine performance
Now, does its performance live up to its name of being an athlete? The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is powered by a 2.4L turbocharged diesel engine, now equipped with a two-stage turbo that widens the power availability across the rev range. The upgrade delivers a total of 201 hp and 470 Nm of torque, presenting more muscle than previous models. The dual-turbo setup keeps the power going strong even when you push the speed. This powertrain is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, which is praised for its efficiency in both congested traffic and open highway conditions.
Value for Money: Is the Triton Athlete Worth Its Price Tag?
The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Athlete comes with a starting price of P 1,909,000. While this may seem like a big jump if you remember older models, it might just be worth it when you look at what you get. If we stack it up against others like the Ranger Wildtrak or the Hilux Conquest, which cost around P1.9M and P2M respectively, the Triton holds up pretty well. It's cheaper than some but still brings a lot of new features and strong performance. So, is this truck a good deal for what you pay? It looks like it offers a lot without asking too much.
After the Olympic torch is out, the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is very much still in the game. Does it earn the title of a Medal-Worthy Olympian? Its features suggest a resounding yes.
