GAC GM8 - Unboxing

Comfort and luxury go hand in hand, and GAC’s GM8 is looking to give other minivans a run for their money.

Big on value and big on luxury and comfort, the GAC GM8 is a viable choice for an already Manila-proofed car. GAC Motor is looking to make it huge on the luxury minivan market with its luxury box the Chinese company designates as the GM8.

A quick glance is all it takes to spot the modern and conservative styling that GAC is known for. Spot the big grille, flanked by two LED headlights with DRLs. Move to the side and peep the 18-inch wheels that add to the overall style of the vehicle.

Pop the hood, notice the engine is the 2.0L turbocharged mill that produces 190 hp and 300 Nm of torque from the GA8. This allows capable performance and pulling power considering the vehicle’s size and weight. This mill is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission with an up and down selector on the shift knob.

Strap in and buckle up as the driver in its leather-clad, 6-way power adjustable seat with a tilting and telescoping steering wheel. Push start is also available, along with other modern touches. A 10-inch LCD display is put front and center for the infotainment system and back-up camera.

While all the business is handled at the front, it’s a party at the back. Open the power sliding doors on either side and be mesmerized by the light colored upholstery that covers everything from the seats to the door cars to the sunroof and headliner. A multitude of accessories such as cupholders, charging ports keep the rear from being too spartan. Sit down in one of the captain’s chairs and sit back and relax as you recline into your most comfortable position.

Store your luggage away with ease because this van has a power tailgate that latches and unlatches with a single click of a button. Put up the rear seats to reveal a cargo space that is sizeable and on the tall side.

Expect great headroom, leg space, and captain’s chairs from this van. Expect good value for the features as well because the GM8 comes in at only P2,880,000
