Care for some open-top driving? The 2016 MINI Convertible has made its Philippine debut at the brand’s dealership in Bonifacio Global City. It is available in two variants: MINI Cooper S Convertible and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible.
Exterior-wise, the MINI Convertible looks similar to the standard 3-door model, except for the retractable roof. According to MINI, the automatic and electrically powered soft top can close and open in 18 seconds. It can even fold and retract while on the road at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
You can activate the soft top by means of a toggle switch located on the front roof frame. Moreover, when the MINI Convertible is stationary, you can use the vehicle’s remote key to operate the soft top.
Aside from its convertible top, 2016 MINI Convertible now measures 3,821 mm long (+98 mm), 1,727 mm wide (+44 mm), and 1,415 mm tall (+1 mm).
Inside, the MINI Convertible has a black interior with red accent on the dashboard. It also comes with a 3-spoke steering wheel, a white-on-black instrument cluster, and a circular-themed center console.
The MINI Cooper S Convertible and the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible are both powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with the brand’s ‘TwinPower Turbo Technology.’ The former is rated at 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque while the latter delivers 231 hp and 320 Nm (340 Nm with overboost). The two variants are available with six-speed automatic transmission.
The MINI Cooper S Convertible is priced at P3,150,000 while the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible has a price tag of P3,950,000.
