Mazda’s midsize sedan, the 6, has received another update that further improves its driving tech and luxurious interior finish. However, the Japanese automaker didn’t make any significant changes to the 6’s exterior, which features the same sleek, aggressive styling.
The 2017 Mazda 6 is equipped with the Japanese automaker’s new G-Vectoring Control (GVC) tech. In a nutshell, Mazda’s GVC tech provides integrated control between the engine, transmission, and suspension in order to enhance the 6’s driving dynamics and help reduce the need for steering corrections.
Aside from the GVC tech, the 2017 Mazda 6 comes with an enhanced sound insulation by integrating the car with improved door seals and tighter tolerance between panels. Mazda engineers also designed the 6’s underbody, rear console, and headliner with sound insulation materials. Moreover, the 6 has a thicker front glass to block wind noise.
Other than the beefed up sound insulation, the Mazda 6’s interior features Nappa leather seating surfaces. Safety-wise, the vehicle has traffic sign recognition, lane-keep assist, and advanced blind spot monitoring.
In the US, the 2017 Mazda 6 is still powered by a 2.5-liter SkyActiv engine that delivers 184 hp. It is mated to either an automatic or manual transmission.
Berjaya Auto Philippines, the local distributor of Mazda, has yet to announce when will the updated Mazda 6 debut in the Philippines.
