2017 VW Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is getting an in and out makeover for its 2017 model. This update leans toward a completely new generation of infotainment systems, as well as new engines, sharper design, and a new driver assistance system. 

The 2017 Golf's exterior features new modifications front to back. These mod includes new front and rear bumpers, restyled headlights with LED daytime running lights, and standard LED taillights. 

As for the new bumpers, the rear piece gets more elongated. The rear bumper stretches and is almost touching the taillights, which adds more elegance to its appeal. More so, an optional trapezoidal chrome trim panels is also available.

Introduced in the Golf are the new decorative trim panels in the doors, dash panel and center console. For infotainment, the car is equipped with a 12.3-inch Active Info Display, high definition screen, where the gesture control feature is operated.

Furthermore, existing infotainment systems in the Golf were replaced by the new generation of the Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB) system. The MIB system is composed of a digital infotainment screen that is integrated in the car’s dashboard.

Safety-wise, the facelifted Golf is equipped with features such as automatic accident notification, breakdown call, and service scheduling (for making maintenance appointments).

Added to this, it has an online anti-theft alarm, which can be accessed through the Volkswagen Car-Net smartphone app. A notification will be sent via the app if there are break-in attempts. 

Aside from these systems, the Golf comes with traffic jam assist, pedestrian monitoring with city emergency braking, trailer assist, and emergency assist.

The facelifted Volkswagen Golf has a number of engine options including the 1.5 L TSI turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It can also be powered by a 130 hp 1.5 L engine or a 2.0 L engine that generates 230 hp. Lastly, the top-of-the-line variant, Golf Performance, is said to deliver 245 hp.
