Iconic is a word so common yet reserved for the few. A person or a certain thing should have made a great impact in order to be called an icon. With that in mind, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) is giving you a chance to get a glimpse of the brand’s history of iconic cars through the Mitsubishi 100 years anniversary expo.

Among the many, here’s 7 iconic Mitsubishi cars we saw during the opening day of the said expo.

PX33

According to Mitsubishi, the PX33 is Japan’s first full-time four-wheel drive passenger car. It was produced at the Kobe shipyard of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.

LANCER 1600 GSR

This vehicle is a 2-time Safari Rally winner (1974 and 1976). It is regarded as Mitsubishi’s most successful rally car. The Lancer 1600 GSR is based on the Galant GTO and Galant FTO.

COLT F2000

The Colt F2000 was the 1971 Japan Grand Prix overall winner.

LANCER EX 2000 TURBO

The Lancer EX 2000 Turbo is a car built for international and domestic rally events. This model won 3rd prize at the Finland 1000 Lake Rally. Aside from that, it is also a 2-time winner of the All Japan Championship Rally.

STARION

The Starion was first introduced at the 1983 Tokyo Motor Show. It managed to win 1st in its class at the Millepistes Rally in 1984.

PAJERO 189

This vehicle debuted at the 1983 Paris Dakar Rally and in 1985, the Pajero won the 1st and 2nd overall price.

LANCER WRC 

The Lancer WRC was a car built by Ralliart, Mitsubishi’s motorsport division. It competed in the World Rally Championship from 2001 to 2007.
