Alfa Romeo Sauber Formula 1 Team

Alfa Romeo Sauber Formula 1 (F1) team recently presented their driver lineup and new livery for the 2018 season. The announcement happened just a few days after Sauber F1 team signed a multi-year technical partnership with Alfa Romeo.

Sauber F1 driver Marcus Ericsson will drive alongside the current Formula 2 (F2) champion Charles Leclerc for the 2018 season. The pair will be backed up by Antonio Giovinazzi, who was named reserve driver for the team.

Ericsson, now in his 5th season, had a dismal 2017 when he failed to score a single point during the last F1 season. His highest finish this year was in Spain and Azerbaijan where he crossed the line in 11th.

On the other hand, Leclerc claimed the championship titles of the GP3 Series in 2016 and in F2 in 2017. He also took part in the mid-season testing of the Scuderia-Ferrari SF70H in Hungary and the Sauber C36 in Malaysia this year.

Meanwhile, Giovinazzi made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2017 when Pascal Wehrlein got injured during the Race of Champions (ROC). In his 2 outings for the team, he was able to finish 12th in Australia but crashed out in China.

As for what they will be driving, Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team unveiled their car’s 2018 concept livery. It has the Italian brand’s distinct red and white colors, as well as the carmaker’s logo at the back. According to the team, it will be equipped with the 2018 Ferrari power units.
