The all-new Mazda MX-5 named 2015-2016 JAHFA Car of the Year

Shortly after winning a bunch of awards locally, the all-new Mazda MX-5 reached another milestone and this time in its home country. The roadster was named 2015-2016 Car of the Year by the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame (JAHFA).

The Mazda MX-5's appeal didn't end with its front engine, rear wheel drive 2-seat convertible layout. It boasts a full roster of Mazda's Skyactiv technologies all cloaked under the Japanese automaker's "KODO - Soul of Motion" designed body.

Furthermore, the panel also took note of the MX-5’s fun driving performance and fuel efficiency.

Our Roadster represents everything we stand for in terms of our car-making philosophy, so we are delighted to have that recognized, said Mazda Motor Corporation President and CEO Mr. Masamichi Kogai.

As it stands, the all-new MX-5 is the third Mazda to win such an award. In 2002, the Mazda 6 won the coveted title. Then a year later, it was the Mazda RX-8’s turn to take center stage.
