People Power Monument

Watch out as 2 major rallies towards the end of November may cause congested roads in and around Luneta Park and along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA).

In a report published by Rappler, the rallies against the former president Ferdinand Marcos' burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes' Cemetery) are set this week and next week.

One of the rallies will happen this coming Friday, November 25, at Luneta Park in Roxas Blvd. It’s said to be organized by the Coalition Against the Return of the Marcoses to Malacañang (Carmma), together with other militant groups composed of Martial Law victims. It will also coincide with the arrival of president Duterte who will be coming from Peru.

Meanwhile, more anti-Marcos groups will swarm the People Power Monument at EDSA corner White Plains Avenue on November 30 (Bonifacio Day), also to oppose the said burial. This will be led by the Coalition Against Marcos' Burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (CAMB-LNMB) and is reported to start at 4 p.m. until midnight.

In addition to the Bonifacio Day rally, another group called ‘Block Marcos’ plans to gather in the same venue to reiterate that only heroes like Bonifacio are worthy of being buried in the Heroes’ Cemetery.

Basing on the previous rally held last November 18, a minimum crowd count of 500 to 3,000 people is to be expected; although there's a possibility for its number to inflate.

Although there’s no specific time mentioned for the Luneta Park rally mentioned above, motorists are advised to take alternate routes on both dates to avoid inconvenience and travel delays.
