Audi Ph launches the all-new Q7 and it’s lighter than ever

PGA Cars, Inc., the official distributor of Audi cars in the Philippines, has finally brought in the 2nd generation all-new Q7. This full-size premium family SUV is filled with high-tech features, roomier, and lighter than its predecessor.

Its body structure is now made up of 41% aluminum. The doors, tailgate, hood, and fenders are made of this lightweight material, making it lighter by 325 kg (which is roughly 4 or 5 adults) without compromising safety. Of course, this has a positive effect on increasing fuel efficiency which is always a good thing.

The all-new Q7’s sharp lines and edges makes it look more aggressive than the outgoing model. It now sports a hexagonal and horizontal single-frame grille, matching the rest of Audi’s line-up. The fog lamps are also hidden within the lower bumper for a cleaner look. As for the headlamps, there’s an option between Xenon/HID, LED, or Matrix LED.

Despite being 37mm shorter and 15mm narrower than the outgoing model, the all-new Q7’s 1st and 2nd row seats now has an additional 21mm of space in between, which gives more legroom to the rear passengers. The headroom is also increased by 41mm in the fronts and 23mm at the back. This means better rear-seat comfort, and easier entry and exit.

The Audi Virtual Cockpit inside the all-new Q7 utilizes a 12.3-inch TFT display that allows the driver to check the engine information, multimedia settings, and road guidance with its GPS/Navigation system. Moreover, the Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI) system utilizes audible sound and vibration to confirm the selection.

The dashboard layout is classy and elegant, with less buttons and knobs. This matches the cricket leather that covers most of its interior.

The cargo space of the all-new model can be maximized up to 2,075L with 2nd and 3rd row seats down; 890L with only the 3rd row folded; 295L on its normal 7-seat configuration. The rear loading lip was also lowered by 46mm and is now power-operated for easier use when your hands are full.

Notable features of the all-new Q7 are the Multi-Collision Brake Assist System and Audi Pre-Sense. The former reduces the risk of skidding to lessen damages on accidents, while the latter detects imminent danger and reacts by tensioning the seatbelts and closing the windows and sunroof before a collision. It also gives predictive warning and emergency braking if needed. Both features are optional with the Q7.

It comes standard with ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution with brake assist, traction and stability control, 8 airbags, and red LED light when opening doors or the tailgate to warn motorists and pedestrians.

The all-new Audi Q7 is available in 2 variants: 3.0 TDI Quattro and 3.0 TDI S Quattro. Both retains the 3.0L V6 TDI diesel engine that has a maximum output of 272 hp and 600 Nm of torque. They are then mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is then transferred to Audi’s All-Wheel Drive system.
