Chevron Philippines, Inc. (CPI), the maker of Caltex fuels and lubricants was recently cited for their Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS) Program. CPI took home the “Improving Quality and Access to Education” category title at this year’s AmCham CSR Excellence Awards
The FYS program is CPI’s corporate social responsibility (SCR) initiative which took flight in 2015. Its goal is to contribute to the Filipino youth by helping them achieve proper education, specially in the senior high school levels (grades 11 and 12).
It was carried out through a fund-raising campaign in which school stakeholders, Caltex retailers, and customers pitched in via CPI’s “fuel-to-donate” promo. As a result, the program was able to raise a total of P5-Million in just 24 days.
This was boosted by CPI’s partnership with the American Chamber Foundation (ACF) and the Department of Education (DepEd), which shortlisted at least 27 senior public high schools in Metro Manila. A total of P150,000 were allocated for each school.
Because of this, an estimated count of at least 600 public school teachers and 102,000 high school students were blessed with fresh supplies of educational materials. These include books, multimedia systems, laptops, tablets, scientific calculators, and more.
