The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) reported that the November 2016 automotive sales registered a boost of 22.2%.
Following CAMPI-TMA’s report, the year-on-year growth in the local automotive sales this November was contributed by both the Passenger Cars (PC) and Commercial Vehicles (CV). The PC segment rose by 14% this year with 12,143 units sold from 10,649 units in the same month last year. Meanwhile, the CV segment increased by 27.5% with 20,823 units sold from the 16,330 units recorded from November 2015.
Category I (AUVs) grew 28% with 6,449 units sold from the 5,037 of the same month last year. Category II (SUVs) rocketed by 24.8% with 12,905 units from 10,344 units sold from November 2015. Category IV (Trucks and Buses) achieved 365 units sold this year from 259 of last year’s same month, increasing sales by 40.9%.
Category III (Light Trucks and Buses) holds the biggest sales growth with 84.7%. The category sold 968 units, 444 more units compared to last year.
Of note, only Category V (Heavy Duty Trucks and Buses) registered a decrease in sales under the CV segment. It yielded an 18.1% drop in sales with 136 units sold, 30 units short as compared to November last year.
On the other hand, the total units sold in November 2016 yielded 32,996, which is 5.99% more as compared to October’s 31,132 units.
From January to November 2016, CAMPI-TMA reported a total of 325,468 units sold. The local market is still led by Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation with 44.34% market share. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation follows with a share of 17.14%. Third is Ford Motor Philippines, Inc. with 9.37% share, followed by Isuzu Philippines Corporation with 7.50%. Completing the top 5 is Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., with 6.27% market share.
