Daniil Kvyat

Formula 1 (F1) team Scuderia-Ferrari announced via a Twitter post that Daniil Kvyat has joined their stable as a development driver. Although the duties of his role haven’t been confirmed, it’s expected that the Russian will do simulator work and a few test drives this 2018 season.

Kvyat previously drove for Red Bull Racing’s sister team Toro Rosso during the 2017 season. His lacklustre performance saw him lose his seat to F1 rookie Pierre Gasly and, ultimately, booted out of the team’s driver pool.

Now, the Russian will be joining Scuderia-Ferrari mainstays and former World Driver’s Champions Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

Will we see Kvyat racing on the track again soon? Well, it could be sort of a stretch for now with both Vettel and Raikkonen signing contract extensions last year. With no other seats available, maybe we should be just happy that he’s still involved in F1.
