Kia Seltos Philippine Port Arrival

Kia is making a big deal out of its smallest crossover. With a pre-launch reservation discount across the board, as well as a variant list with price details, we now have more information about the subcompact crossover from Kia Philippines in the form of pictures.

Fresh off the boat and ready for launch day, the 2020 Kia Seltos makes landfall in the Philippines. According to Kia, this shipment is the first 100 units on Philippine soil.

Kia Seltos SX Variant

Looking closer at the pictures reveals a few details. Evidently, the Seltos SX variant is displayed front and center in Clear White and Starbright Yellow. Also of note is the two-tone color scheme with the roof painted in Kia’s Cherry Black.

Kia Seltos SX Variant

It is very likely that the two-tone look will be reserved for the high-end SX variant. Accompanying the color scheme is a set of LED headlights, side mirror turn indicators, and LED fog lamps. A closer look reveals that it is likely that a turbocharged variant will be made available, due to the presence of what we think is the outline of an intercooler. Supplementing our inference is the P300,000 price difference between the EX and SX variants because a price gap that large might come with a different motor running the show. The pricing for this crossover is also close to the Forte GT’s P1,650,000 tag, which means that it could be a prime variant with a choice engine.

Kia Seltos Color and Variant Lineup

The rest of the lineup is shown as well, with Intense Red, Neptune Blue, and Steel Grey being among the colors. It is unknown if other colors such as Mars Orange will be thrown into the lineup since the photos don’t clearly show the hue of the cars accurately.

All models in the picture come with 18-inch alloy wheels, and what could be the frame for the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. The LX variants won’t be receiving the foglamp array that the EX and SX have, nor will it have the mirror-mounted turn signal indicators.

Engine options for this variant will likely be a 2.0L gasoline engine paired with IVT – Kia’s version of CVT – while the line-topping SX variant will have the 1.6L turbocharged gasoline motor mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Historically, Australian models and Philippines models are very similar in terms of specifications with regard to engine and transmission combos, so we’re hopeful that the Seltos will come with these capable motors from Kia.

The 2020 Kia Seltos will be launched on November 6, 2019, with the official invite now sent out to the Philippine motoring media. At this point, you may take our speculations with a tad grain of salt but we’ll confirm the specs as the launch date draws near.
