Volkswagen I.D. CROZZ

Volkswagen has unveiled its latest electric vehicle (EV) called the I.D. CROZZ at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. This crossover boasts 2 motors for both axles powered by a high performance battery that can take its occupants out for 500 km.

The I.D. CROZZ features a low roofline, large sport wheels, and side skirts that make it look like a 4-door coupe. It has a sculpted hood and striking LED headlights that give this crossover a menacing front. It also has front swinging and rear sliding doors that open up to an LED-lit interior featuring a panoramic sunroof and generous space for 4 people.

Speaking of the interior, it’s organized to have a minimalistic and clean appeal to provide more comfort and wiggle room for its passengers. The center console only has a smartphone holder, arm rest, and a small storage compartment. Also, the levers for the wipers and lights, as well as the gear shifter, are now replaced with buttons ergonomically integrated on the I.D. CROZZ’s hexagon-shaped steering wheel. Its gauge cluster has an LED touchscreen that displays all the important information such as speed, charge, and even navigation.

A CleanAir system provides, well, clean air for its occupants which can be managed through its infotainment system. The I.D. CROZZ also boasts a new voice assistant, which can open/close doors and toggle its fully automated driving mode via verbal commands.

Meanwhile, this crossover is powered by Volkswagen’s electric 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, which places 2 motors between each axle. It provides 225 kW of power (302 hp), a range of 500 km, and a top speed of 180 km/h. But what’s really impressive is that its high performance battery can be charged up to 80% in 30 minutes using a fast-charging system.

The I.D. CROZZ is part of a trio of concept EVs recently launched by Volkswagen to spearhead their electric mobility program, which aims to roll out production models in 5 years. The other 2 are the I.D. hatchback and the I.D. BUZZ. According to the German brand, they aim to start production of this 4-wheel-drive concept crossover by 2020.
