SsangYong XAVL concept

SsangYong is set to launch a new SUV concept at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show next month. Dubbed as the XAVL concept, it is a 7-seater SUV that’s integrated with a promising design.

In a nutshell, SsangYong said the XAVL is a new concept following the design of the XAV (photos shown below), introduced in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on the teaser images, the XAVL concept seems to be fitted with a Tivoli-like front end due to its slim upper grille as well as its bumper design. The concept could also come with sharp character lines, prominent wheel arches, and a sloping roofline. The rear, on the other hand, has large taillights and a muscular bumper.

Inside, the concept has a modern, ‘techy’ dashboard with splashes of silver, carbon-fiber, and blue accents. With this, it seems that SsangYong is determined to make a good impression in Geneva.

Powertrain details are yet to be released but SsangYong shared that it will be equipped by both gasoline and diesel engines.

Now, if the XAVL concept gets a greenlight for production and happens to make its way in the Philippines, SsangYong could have a contender in the local 7-seater SUV segment. However, that may take some time since the XAVL is just currently a concept.

As a review, SsangYong made its comeback in the Philippine market last April 2016 and introduced 3 models in the local market – the Tivoli, Korando, and the Rodius.
