Honda Brio Amaze is fuel-efficient even around the metro

While we can't really do anything to keep gas prices low, here is something to be happy about especially if you'll be getting a Honda car anytime soon. Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) sighted exceptional fuel efficiency on Honda vehicles as per an internal fuel economy run conducted by Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI).

Eight Honda vehicles, City, Mobilio, Brio, Brio Amaze, Jazz, HR-V, CR-V, and the Odyssey, were put to the test. Prior to the run, the Honda vehicles went on stringent mechanics which was monitored by AAP representative Francisco Reyes. All settings were sealed to ensure accuracy of the fuel efficiency test from start to finish.

With one driver and navigator on each Honda model, the vehicles cruised on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union and through 55 kilometers of Metro Manila’s highly congested major roads and fairways like Kalayaan, C5, and of course EDSA. All the participating models were drove under normal driving style and with running aircon.

The Brio Amaze 1.3 MT emerged as the most fuel efficient for both highway and city legs. Its 4 cylinder 1.3L i-VTEC engine garnered 33.8 km/L for highway driving. Despite Metro Manila’s traffic jam, the Brio Amaze recorded a commendable 20.37 km/L. Sharing the same engine, the Brio 1.3V Navi AT also did a great job, getting 31.92 km/L for highway driving and 18.27 km/L for city driving.

Honda’s sedan, the City with 1.5L i-VTEC engine and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), also performed well recording a 20.99 km/L around the city and 31.03 km/L on the highway. Together with the Mobilio, Odyssey, Jazz, and HR-V, the City’s CVT was built under the Earth Dreams Technology (EDT), an innovation geared towards engine enhancement for better performance and fuel efficiency.
