Honda Malaysia recently updated the City subcompact sedan featuring a new fascia and interior.
The facelifted City has a masculine appearance compared to its predecessor. Up front, it bears some sort of similarity to the local spec Civic due to its redesigned headlights with daytime running lights (DRL), grille, and bumper. On the other hand, the side as well as the rear remains the same except for the slightly revamped bumper and new taillight configuration.
The interior of this subcompact sedan was developed under Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” design principle. With this, the Japanese automaker boasts that the occupants of the City will be able to maximize interior space with its 60:40 foldable rear seats and 536L worth of cargo room in its trunk.
Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line variant will have a bunch of LEDs such as the headlights, DRL, front fog lights, taillights, and a ducktail spoiler integrated brake light. It will also have leather seats, paddle shift, cruise control, multi-angle reverse camera, and a total of 8 speakers to give a premium feel.
Honda Malaysia also said that the facelifted City is equipped with safety features such as vehicle stability assist (VSA), hill start assist (HAS), and emergency stop signal (ESS), standard in all variants. Furthermore, this subcompact sedan will come loaded with 6 airbags for added protection.
For its powerplant, the refreshed City retains its 1.5L i-VTEC engine. This is then paired with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), which is developed under the Japanese brand’s Earth Dreams Technology.
As of this writing, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has yet to reveal if they will bring the 2017 City locally. But with its new looks and added safety features, we would sure love to have it here soon.
