Honda Ph concludes the year with the launch of the refreshed CR-Z

Just weeks before the year ends, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) the exclusive local distributor of Honda vehicles has launched a refreshed version of the CR-Z Sport Hybrid. Available by January 2016, this sports coupe showcases updated design details, tech, and a new set of colors to choose from.

The most noticeable change found on the latest CR-Z is its restyled front end. This is headed by a slightly bigger grille with more rounded corners. This sits in between 2 smaller air intakes that were angled down further. These inlets are outlined with blacked-out trims that meet below the grille, creating an aggressive center lip design.

As for the side, Honda kept the sporty contours and styling details as is, apart from strapping a set of newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels. Only the bottom part of its rear received upgrades with a redesigned mesh with red reflector.

The interior of the latest CR-Z reveals a refreshed architecture, thanks to what Honda refers to as an “Exciting Mature Cockpit” theme. This motif is headed by a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that serves as the car’s control and display hub for navigation, reversing camera, and entertainment.

Below the head unit is a cleaner-looking center stack that features an electronic handbrake and doubles as an armrest. Also new to the CR-Z is a push-button engine start/stop feature.

The car’s Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC) will let drivers enjoy a more spirited drive. These gizmos channel and enhance a fraction of the engine’s sound to the audio speakers. The sound gets bolder depending on the car’s 3-Mode Drive System – Normal, ECON, and Sport.

Speaking of drive, under the hood of the new CR-Z is still the same 1.5L inline 4-cylinder i-VTEC gasoline engine and paired with a lightweight Integrated Motor Assist Hybrid System (IMA). Working as one, these transmit 134 hp and 190 Nm of torque to the front wheels via CVT with shift control. The powertrain also retains the Plus Sport System which when engaged will give the driver that can produce feedback that’s comparable to a 3.0 V6 engine.

Finally, HCPI will offer the CR-Z with new body colors such as Helios Yellow Pearl (2-Tone), Milano Red (2-Tone), Premium White Pearl (2-Tone), Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic, and a Polished Metal Metallic which a special color than can be pre-ordered.

HCPI now accepts pre-orders of the 2016 Honda CR-Z. For the meantime, stocks of the current models are still available on the AutoDeal Car Guide.
