Honda's all-new HR-V receives a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating

Sure, the all-new Honda HR-V comes with all the latest safety features such as airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and ISOFIX child seat mounts, but only organizations such as the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) can attest how safe it really is.

What the ASEAN NCAP did was to put several brand new HR-Vs through crash tests to see how it fared in passenger and safety. And they're able to do it without hurting a single soul, except for a few crash test dummies.

Results show that the HR-V achieved 4-stars for its Adult Occupant Protection with a score of 15.21 out of 16.00 points. Likewise, it scored 4-stars in Child Occupant Protection (COP) with a 73% compliance. However, the 1.8 EL variant in particular, managed the full 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating. This is due to the Seatbelt Reminder (SBR) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) features that are fitted as standard equipment in this model.

It's only when a vehicle is fitted with these 2 specific features does it earn a 5-star from the ASEAN NCAP.

From the test results, the ASEAN NCAP also noted that the HR-V scored slightly better than the Subaru XV which managed a 14.31 (5-start) in AOP and 67% (3-star) in COP. It's bigger brother the CR-V, on the hand, achieved 15.46 points in AOP and 86% in COP.

Aside from this crash safety rating, the all-new HR-V is also fitted with an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Multi-view Reverse Camera (for E and EL variants), and an Immobilizer. But it's only the 1.8 EL, which scored a full 5-stars, get the side and side curtain airbags, passenger seatbelt reminder, and rear sensors.

If you want one, the all-new HR-V has been available in the Philippines since June 2015 with an SRP that starts at P1.19-million.
