Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) recently previewed the all-new Tucson as part of their Hyundai Logistics Center (HLC) inauguration. Visitors were quick to give their first impressions and here’s our take on this crossover.
The latest Tucson was designed using Hyundai’s new “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0” concept. Flowing surfaces, bold proportions, and sharp lines worked in harmony, rounded together with an aggressive front fascia and the brand’s signature hexagonal radiator grille. Side profile is detailed with the slanted square-type wheel arches, blacked-out fender flares and skirts, and modified A-pillars.
For a compact crossover, its cabin sure is roomy. Plenty of space was saved across the interior using smart package designing. This also optimizes the vehicle’s exterior-to-interior dimension ratio and complimented the fluidic exterior design, adding character depth and dynamism.
Interior details like premium seat materials and smooth surfaces give a level of refinement. It also comes equipped with comfort and convenience features like seat heating and ventilation, tire pressure monitoring system, Active Cruise Control (ACC), navigation system, and automatic tailgate, to name a few.
It won’t be for long until HARI finally announces the all-new Tucson’s official Philippine debut, but according to the spec sheet they handed out, it will be available with 2 engine types: a 2.0L NU petrol engine with MPI and 2-step VIS, and a 2.0L R CRDi diesel engine with E-VGT. Power and torque for both engines are rated at 152 hp and 192 Nm, and 183 hp and 402 Nm, respectively. These outputs are channelled to the front wheels via 6-speed AT + Shiftronix.
But these specs aren’t final yet. Guess we all just have to wait ‘til HARI launches the all-new Tucson that according to them will be introduced in the market “within the year.”
