Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles locally, reports a 39% growth in the first quarter of 2016. They ended the first three months with 7,469 units sold, compared to 5,364 in the same period last year.
Their Passenger Cars (PC) segment were up 42% as 5,186 vehicles were sold from 3,653 last year. Of note, 4,717 of those were sub-compacts, consisting of the Eon, i10 and Grand i10.
Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) consisting of vans, crossovers, SUVs, and utility trucks, added substantially to HARI’s growth with a 33% surge on units bought; mainly driven by the Grand Starex that had a 67% increase in sales.
“We are confident as we continue to serve our customers with bolder, fiercer, and game-changing products and services,” said HARI President and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.
Quarter-on-quarter figures also show a significant growth for the brand. Their compact car offerings like the Accent and Elantra had an astonishing 1,546% boost while the SUVs such as Grand Santa Fe and Tucson posted a 149% increase in sales.
