Hyundai RM16 concept

Four years ago, Hyundai Motor began the Project RM (Racing Midship) which aims to develop high-performance technologies. With this, the brand revealed the latest member of the ‘N’ model concept, dubbed as the RM16, during this year’s Busan International Motor Show.

The design of the RM16 used the “form follows function” principle. It bears an aerodynamic body highlighted by a low-extended hood, a huge mesh grille, side air intakes, and an automatically controlled rear spoiler.

It also has weight-saving innovations such as a specially-designed aluminium space frame and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) body panels.

The RM16 is powered by a 2.0L T-GDI inline-4 mid-mounted engine that delivers 300 hp and 383 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

More power and responsiveness is provided by an electronic supercharger, while an electronically-variable exhaust system gives a powerful tone to match the sense of acceleration.

In addition, the RM16 boasts a balanced weight distribution of 43:57 to help boost handling and power-to-weight ratio.
